Really Ray? Really?

So this morning Ray woke up around 7am which is actually sleeping in a bit for him. I of course went to change his diaper first thing since he soaks them during the night.

Now for a little background information: We have been using cloth diapers which work wonderfully during the day and with liners doubled up at night can almost always hold 11-12 hours worth of what Ray aka Super Soaker (I've been called him that for a while now) can produce.

Did I mention I just changed Ray's bedding last night?

Did I mention Ray got a bath last night?

Did I mention that Ray is the hardest baby to change because he never stops moving?

Did I mention Ray gets diaper rash especially when he is teething (one of our motivators for switching to cloth) and we had put a Pamper on him last night so that he could have some cream on?

Back to this morning. I unzipped Rays pj's as he thrashed around and found that the Pampers diaper had exploded. Yep, exploded...must be all those chemicals at work - yuck! Now I've only seen a diaper explode once before and that was after a baby had it on in a pool. Apparently Ray can saturate a diaper as much as a pool can! So, I spent a good 10 minutes trying to hold Ray somewhat still so that I could clean all the little gross gel pellets off of him. Then I had to clean off the couch and the floor (they got everywhere!) all while trying to keep Ray out of it. I debated about taking a picture but figured I'd spare you that many details....

Moral of the story: CLOTH DIAPERS ARE FAR SUPERIOR TO PAMPERS!

Research for today: How to use diaper cream and cloth diapers together. I think you just have to put a little liner in.

  1. Oh dear lord, why does this stuff only happen while I'm at work? I'm so sorry babe, I do agree on the cloth diapers. At any rate, tonight we'll have the help of Lexi and maybe Nunny and Papa too:)

    Love you

  3. eww. http://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com/diaperrashcreams.htm

We just bought cream that can be used with cloth diapers. Now, I have yet to use cloth diapers (we start today as soon as Chris wakes up because the diapers are in the room he sleeps in on work days!) so I can not tell you if it really does not hurt the diaper but this website is what a lot of people who cloth here directed me too.
