Here is the story I alluded to in my last post.
Last week the boys and I ventured to "The Home Improvement Store" (that's what Sam calls any hardware store), Home Depot. My plan was to get some rocks to fill in the spot in the garden that you have already heard about several times (catch up on your reading of my blog if you don't know what I'm talking about) and possibly some chain to make a rain chain.
When we arrived at Home Depot we wandered the nursery and Sam called out the colors of the flowers while Ray smiled. It was a little chilly so I decided a quick trip inside to warm us up would be in order before heading back out to pick out rocks. When I got inside a friendly man asked me if he could help me. I blanked... "Um, yeah, I'm looking for (*links thumb and pointer finger together on both hands) chain, yeah, chain..."
I didn't find any chain that I liked for the rain chain. So we headed back outside found a $3 bag of rocks that I thought would be suitable and headed to the check out.
Cashier: "Just one bag."
Me: "Yep, just one bag, should be enough."
Cashier: "You know those rocks are guaranteed for a year"
Me: "Really? Great. Not sure why they would guarantee rocks though, probably just to get people to buy them..." (Yep, I really said that! Wow!)
Cashier: "Oh, actually Mam, I was just kidding."
Me: "Oh, right, have a nice day."
Fast forward to next day. We go back for more rocks because clearly one bag will not be enough to cover a mud puddle and two trails dug out for the water run off from downspouts.
The Same Cashier: "3 Bags?"
Me: "Yes."
Cashier: "Were you here yesterday?"
Me: "Yea..."
Not sure if I should tell you that I still need another bag...
Bring on the comedic responses! I'll start:
Sarah, Do you have ROCKS in your head?!
haha, I always think your jokes are so funny. And now you post the relevant link to prove it!
ReplyDeleteToo funny!
ReplyDeleteI've found the same to be true for bags of lava rocks and stain-- (six gallons, three trips to Lowes and 9 hours later - fence complete)
Can you return them without a receipt?
