Do Not Open Until Christmas (Here is Zoe's bag if you want to see it!)
I've always been a peaker as long as I can remember. I would sneak in to the attic while my parents were out of the house, search their room, etc. I think it started the year my parents didn't get the Christmas gifts under the tree before they fell asleep (we were always out super late at grandparents house on Christmas Eve). My brother and I woke up in the morning and my parents promptly freaked and told us to go back to bed. Of course we heard the scramble and the attic stairs being pulled down...
Are you a peaker?
So with out further ado I bring you Zoe's bag for Christmas. Zoe is my cousin's stepdaughter. I just refer to all of my cousin's kids as my nieces and nephews; it's much easier that way. I was telling my cousin how much I love this bag and she is an avid peaker too so, I'm letting her peak if she wants to. :)
This is my favorite bag I've made. Zoe's favorite colors are pink and black.

i am completely anti peaking. i have only tried to find my christmas gifts once and was successful, but it was just not the same! so, lesson learned, ha. i like the bag, by the way.
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING!!!!! this bag!! It is beautiful and fun! The fabrics are so funky and pretty! She will be the hippest girl at the library and gymnastics (for her non-stinky stuff). It looks like a perfect size too! Thank you for letting me peak!:o) Good to know it runs in the family!:)
ReplyDeleteDo you just buy a yard at a time and keep the scraps, how do you buy fabric?
Glad you like the bag! I think the straps might be a little long but she can either wear it across her body or, I'd be happy to shorten them. I don't want to mess with them until she/you decide.
ReplyDeleteFor these bags I typically use 3-4 fat quarters (depending on how many prints I want) for the patchwork (you need 36 5in squares), about a yard of fusible interfacing, and a yard of the inner/strap fabric.
I've been building up a stash of fabric when I find things on sale that I like but I usually have something in mind for it when I buy.
Yes, I save scraps too. "Sew, Mama, Sew!", a blog I'm obsessed with just did a whole month of scrapbuster ideas. I actually used scraps to make a few gifts for Christmas :)
