Quirky Kids - week 3

Sam and I took a trip to Kohls where he found a 20 pack of play-doh canisters (the miniature ones for Halloween) for $1.79.  After I told him we could get them he said, “I’ll carry them, hand them to the lady to pay and I won’t cry because I’m a big three year old.”  On the way home we were talking about playing with them and he said, “Daddy will like black, Ray will like purple, and you will use your favorite green.  I’ll play green with you, you silly dilly!”  Oh how the things you say come right back out of your kids mouths…

Sam found some Cars (the movie) colored pencil at the dollar store and we bought them.  He loves all things art.  When he colored with them for the first time, he said, “A bagel!  Look, I colored a bagel!”  It was a little circle with a bigger circle around it so, yes, a bagel!

We picked up some nuggets for dinner from Wendy’s and Ray was wearing the little cardboard cone thing that the nuggets come in on his hand (in between sucking the salt off the French fries).

The boys were watching a DVD, “Elmo’s ABC’s” and there is a song called, “African Alphabet” where they name an African animal for each letter.  When they said, “M is for Monkey” Sam got really upset and said, “No! M is for Mommy.”  He continued to yell at the TV that P is for Papa, R is for Ray and S is for Sam.”

Last year for Christmas, Mike got a guitar ornament that plays, “Feliz Navida”.  When we put up the tree on Sunday, Sam carried the ornament around for hours strumming the little strings on the guitar.

Ray loves playing with the Little People nativity set.  He brings all the animals from the other Little People sets we have to see baby Jesus: giraffes, pigs, chickens, horses…

Oh and the wise men and camels came by bus to the stable to see Jesus, right?

On the way to swim class, Sam and I were having a nice chat.  When I asked him what he had done in the gym that morning at preschool he told me, “I put the sockum ball in the baseball pan!”  Translation: I put the soccer ball in the basketball net/hoop.

Ray sat on Mike, started bouncing up and down and click clacked his tongue like he was on a horse.  Then, he came over and did the same to my leg.

Sam: Mommy, Do we have any apples?
Me:  Yes.
Sam:  Oh, oh, good.  I really like to make ‘em crunch!

Ray is now talking in complete paragraphs.  Just not in English.  We’ve been working hard to eliminate the binky during the day and he is talking a lot more!  This week he started saying, “milk”.
