Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Fun!

The book, "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" is a well loved one in our house. It is one that Sam can "read" by himself and even Ray is starting to say, "boom boom!"and "tree". This week alone I've lost track of how many times I've read and reread the book!

Today, I remembered that I had some green and brown felt stashed away and made the boys a quick coconut tree. This literally took me about 5 minutes. I cut and sewed the pieces together w/o making a pattern, measuring, or any of those time consuming things.

Come to find out there are lots of fun activities for the book out there on the www. There are coloring pages, a song and video by none other than Fred Penner (remember his show in the 90's? I watched it with my "little" cousins - A LOT), paper crafts, and lots more!

Kudos to you Bill Martin Jr. for your great picture books! (yep, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" is one of his too!) And to Lois Ehlert for awesome illustrations ("Eating the Alphabet" is another one of hers). Admittedly I don't know much about John Archambault but I think we'll look in to him at the library the next time we go.

If you want to play, "We'll meet you at the top of the coconut tree!".

  1. Wow that tree is a great idea. Zetta reads Chicka Chicka Boom Boom everynight before bed. It is the first on the list. When I bring it out she yells Goom! Goom!
