Not wanting to stifle his creativity, I decided, why not make a cake? Maybe it's just what we need to make us all feel better. Besides I knew very well that we have all the ingredient for a cake - chocolate with buttercream icing and sprinkles. yum!
So Sam and I set out to make a cake.
Then Sam informed me that lion and duck needed a present. I asked if a card would be okay and he agreed it would.
And of course they needed decorations.
And party hats. Duck being a bit smaller needed a special party hat made from a scrap of paper (like one of those that you can make out of the newspaper).
So, after dinner we celebrated lion turning 4 and duck turning 2. Sam thought pizza would have been much better for their party but I had already planned to make pesto pasta bake. Rays friend, Monkey, joined us for the party too. That's monkey's arm at the right of the picture. Two candles for duck and four for lion.
And now, I'm thinking to myself, this all seems rather familiar.
Lion has been a trusted friend and duck well, it's just kind of ridiculous that duck came to be a part of Sam's entourage. Sam claims that duck is "lions baby". (He is from a Baby Einstein play gym that Ray had.) So, at least one of them deserves a Birthday party (several times a year). Here's lion and Sam in January of 2007 - notice the fluffy hair, lack of repair stitches, intact eye and no mistaking that he is a lion and not a bear.
this is so cute! you are a wonderful mama!
