Pp is for... (Part 2)

We finished up our letter Pp week with a few more fun activities and a picture book to go with each. These activities are great because both boys (3 years and 20 months) can take part (although Ray was napping for most of this).

We played with penguins (McDonalds Happy Meal toys) in a sink full of snow and read, "Where is Home Little Pip?" by Karma Wilson and Jane Chapman.
We had a Picnic with our Melissa and Doug food (We have the food groups and fruit slicing sets. The tea set came from Kroger around Christmas time and I love that it is in gender neutral colors.) and Sam read, "Biscuit's Picnic" by Alyssa Satin Capucilli.
I've been trying to introduce more nursery rhymes and traditional stories to the boys so, this week, we worked on "The Three Little Pigs". I made magnets from these print outs. Sam can retell the whole story (with or with out the magnets to help)! Sam also read, "The Wonder Pets Save The Three Little Pigs". It is blowing Mike and I away how much he is reading!
So, if you are still reading, how does your version of "The Three Little Pigs" end? What happens to the wolf? I've found a lot of variations. Does the wolf eat the pig each round or does the pig run to the next house? (We have been having the pigs run to the next house so that they are all safe in the brick house at the end. And when the wolf comes down the chimney the steam from the boiling water shoots him out and he runs away never to be seen again.)

  1. I love the idea of playing with the snow in the sink!

It's great that your son is reading so much.

  2. The Melissa and Doug cutting fruit crate is one of my favorites. The velcro sound as they wooden knife cuts through the fruit provides both a textural and audible experience similar to slicing. Good stuff.
