This past weekend, my Mom and step-Dad took the kids for Friday and Saturday night.
Friday night, Mike and I went to Alladin's Eatery for dinner. Neither of us could decide on an entree so went went with a slew of appetizers: fattoush, dawali, hummos, and falaffel. Half way through eating I mentioned to Mike, "Do you realize we are just eating various forms of chick peas?!" It was great! We also had desserts - chocolate bomb cake and some chocolate peanut butter thing.
After dinner, we went to Ballet Met's performance of, "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Mike had bought the tickets for me for Christmas and they were great - second row! The performance was lots of fun. The dancer that played Puck was my favorite; the combination of choreography and his acting really captured the character.
Saturday, we slept in and then spent a lot of time hitting up thrift stores in the area. I was after some vintage fabrics to start a collection (for an eventual quilt). I found some great ones in the form of pillowcases (for $0.59 a piece). I also found a few books for the boys ($0.50 each) that look like they have never been read and six brand new tshirts ($1.15 each) for Sam. Mike found a few ties, tshirts, and dress shirts - all the things he was after. We had 5 Guys for the first time. The fries are great!
Saturday night, we got take out from our favorite Chinese restaurant, Golden Valley, and watched lots of episodes of The Gilmore Girls. If you live in the area go to Golden Valley! It is good and cheap and family owned and they will remember you and it's great! My favorite is garlic chicken and Mike's is General Tso's (not hot). (If you go and eat in you may want to turn down the "house salad". It's a lettuce salad with soy sauce as the dressing. I guess I just don't like soy sauce that much.)
It was a nice relaxing weekend especially since I didn't cook at all!
