Chaos

So, the other day I decided to bust out the watercolors for the first time ever with Sam.  Ray and Baby M were taking their afternoon naps and since Sam has all but ditched nap taking I decided to do something fun with him instead.  Painting with a two year well, almost three year old can be rather chaotic.  I was so surprised how relaxing and calm he was - he was very intense and loving every minute of it.

I started getting deep and thinking about how a little chaos runs you in to a world of things that  you may have never have even dreamed of and how maybe my overly productive, list making, schedule keeping self could use a little, I repeat, little (baby steps) chaos every once in a while.  So, I created this:

And Sam created this:

Which I love so much!  It will be a reminder to allow a little chaos in to my life.  As if I don't already have it with two little boys!  Sam is very proud that his artwork will be displayed in the living room.

Fear of Blank Canvases - Broken

If you missed my blog, Fear of Blank Canvases, you may want to read it first.

One of my wonderful birthday gifts from last week was a set of acrylic paints and 3 canvases from the boys.

Last night, after midnight, Mike and I had a creation session. He painted with music and I with brushes. Here it is (very vulnerable here) my first ever on canvas creation. It was inspired by Lauryn Hill's song, "Conquering Lion" (click the link to listen) and I gave the painting the same name. Simply stated, this painting symbolizes Jesus' ability to break through all the crap that we deal with and set us free (including fear of "blank canvases").

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us."
