Anyhow...
Ray and I perused the gardening section while Mike and Sam hit up the lumber (Mike is repairing our fence after some wind damage) and plumbing sections (no luck there). I intended to come home with a pair of gardening gloves because the ones I have from the dollar store aren't keeping the prickers out of my hands and the next area of the yard I intend to clear out is full of them. I hit the jack pot though. Seeds are 25% off at Anderson's so I went ahead and purchased what I plan to grow from seed (minus green beans because I haven't decided exactly which ones to use). Here's my stash:
I plan on putting the Marigolds out front since everything we have out there is green or white (We have tons of lily of the valley - it's beautiful. Also, a bunch of ugly bushes we want to rip out!) and they will be a nice compliment to our red siding. They aren't your typical grow in Kindergarten variety; they have a flat petal with red stripes on them.
We are having an Easter Egg Hunt at our house the day before Easter for Sam's little buddies (mostly people from the Mom's group I host) so, that is a good motivator to get going on the yard. I must say it's shaping up quickly and nicely! I'm trying to be creative about what to put in the plastic eggs. I want to be sensitive to the fact that some of his buds have food allergies (milk, peanuts) and also toddler friendly and cheap. So far, I have thought of stickers and small bubbles (like the ones you get at weddings). Any other ideas?
If you are wondering about my running progress I haven't been out again since my attempt on Saturday (the hip incident). I have been totally wiped out the past few days. I don't know if I'm getting sick or what. I've woken up the past two nights feeling incredible nauseated and it carries through most of the day. Then at night, I can eat like a horse. I'll go ahead and say it so that nobody asks. No I am not pregnant and no I am not about to start my period (sorry if that was too much info for some of you but if I didn't say it someone would ask). :)
Bet you could go to the dollar store and get cheap shovel/bucket sets for the baskets!
ReplyDeleteBefore I read the last part of the last paragraph, I was definately going to point the preggo finger!
Ditto Emily about the Prego part.
