Week in Review

This week has been really busy. Did I blog at all this week? Maybe just about my run.

Wednesday night we went to a Columbus Blue Jackets game with our friends, Ty and Liz. They are a dating couple that were in the last Bible study we led. They scored some free tickets and invited us to come along. It was a good game because they were playing the Chicago Blackhawks who they are battling it out with for playoff contention. The Blue Jackets won in overtime. Oh, and I find it a little funny that I used to hang out at parties with RJ Umberger, one of the B J's star players, in college when some of the guys from the OSU hockey team lived below me. It's not like we would know each other on the street but still kinda weird that he is playing pro now.

Friday night we kicked off Mike's spring break with a family outing to Max and Erma's. I have never had a burger from there so I got a mushroom swiss burger - not bad. We also went out to buy Ray a new carseat. We tried out a new baby store at Easton called, Buy Buy Baby. It's similar to a Babies R Us but had some more "organic" type baby things such as cloth diapers, slings, and more nursing supplies.

Yesterday (Saturday) we went to an 80th Birthday party for Mike's grandpa (Vicki's Dad). This was only the second time I had met him but it was nice to celebrate such a great milestone in life. When we got home I went out for run 3 of week 4. I made it through the first 3 minute run and then shut off Robert Ullrey, flipped on Radiohead (Frankie would be so proud) and walked home. My left hip was really hurting and I knew I shouldn't just push through. I did some gardening instead. I've decided to call gardening my cross training. I weeded the bed the we have about 5 or 6 rose bushes in. It looks much better. I'm trying to decide what I want to put in the bed with the roses. Probably just something we have around the yard that I can divide (hosta, sedum, lambs ear, etc.).

Today we hit up the zoo again. We stayed for quite a while. The highlight was probably the tiger being right up against the glass or the Baboa (I think that's how you spell it) family dynamics. Baboa's are part of the ape family - I think. There was a nursing mother which was really quite fascinating. She was nursing her baby and shooing away any of the others that got too close. There was also a rambunctious toddler playing with a yellow trash can, kicking the glass, and messing with the others. One the way home the boys fell asleep so we went for a little drive looking at other people's landscaping. We ended up at Mike's parents house where I score some bulbs to plant. After a dinner (a quick $5 Little Caesar pizza - they just opened near us) I went out and cleared ivy along our shed and found the most beautiful rich black soil (full of worms too) and created a flower bed. I planted a bleeding heart (see next paragraph) along with the things I acquired from Vicki today (hens and chicks, some white bell type flowers, and yellow and purple little flowers). It looks really nice. I might need to go acquire some more bulbs to fill in (although all of these plants spread). And I need to ask Vicki the names of them so that I can make my plant markers with plastic knives :) This picture doesn't do it justice. The bleeding heart is planted in front of the metal stake. I think some lavender would look pretty behind the bulbs. It has kind of an old fashion feel to it.

Say a little prayer for the bleeding heart plant. We received it last year as a house warming gift and never got around to planting it - isn't' that horrible. Last summer was a little chaotic with a newborn and all. Alicia or Dario if you happen upon my blog I am very sorry and your gift really was appreciated. I love bleeding heart's; they remind me of Grandma Z's back yard and I really hope it surpasses all odds and comes back!

Oh, yeah! Sam got a hair cut on Saturday morning. It looks super cute. I posted pics of that on Facebook.
