A Productive Weekend

The weekend isn't quite over yet but I have accomplished a lot.

Starting Friday afternoon, Vicki (Mike's Mom) called and offered to take the kids for the evening. They ended up spending the night so, Mike and I had a fun filled evening ;) We went to the Apple Store in hopes of bringing home a new laptop (but we ended up ordering online so that we could get the hard drive we wanted - new macbook pro is on the way), we went to dinner at Champs (we had the Mile High Icecream Pie for dessert - wow!), and then had a fun time grocery shopping at Giant Eagle. How's that for a romantic evening? When we got home I scrubbed the carpet in the living room and also used the upholstery attachment for the first time on our dirty yellow chair which, I am happy to report now looks like new! Meanwhile Mike put away the groceries and perused Apple.com. We finished up the evening by watching, The Secret Life of Bees. If you haven't already seen it, I thought it was a really good movie although it is a tear jerker.

Saturday morning we did a little more cleaning and ran some errands before picking up the boys. I needed to rotate Ray's clothes into a bigger size so, I got that accomplished. I was happy to find out that we have lots of size 12months clothes that will carry Ray through spring and summer. I think the only things I need to acquire for him are some Crocs, hats, and a front facing car seat!

Saturday afternoon I started clearing out the garden area. I thought I had some before pictures to share but I don't. One garbage can, one shop vac box, 9 lawn bags, and a collection of walking sticks later the garden area is looking much better.... Still lots of work to be done before we can do any planting but we are getting closer. The picture is a little grainy because it was actually dark out when I took it.

We also had Joe and Lex over for soft tacos and homemade chocolate cake (the recipe is on the back of the Hershey's cocoa powder and it makes the most amazingly moist chocolate cake!) with homemade buttercream frosting (only I accidentally put too much milk in and it turned into more of an icing or glaze). Yes, Maegan, you should feel a little hungry for cake if you are reading this. After all that Mike and I watched, Run Fatboy, Run! as suggested by my cousin, Brooke. I will agree with her review that it is an oddly funny movie and if you don't like British humor (or may I be so bold as to gently say, if you are too stupid to understand British humor :) ) then you won't like it.

Ray turned 10 months old today! For fun here is a side by side of Ray and Sam at 10months. Sam is on the left (or, should I just say the one with rolls) and Ray is on the right.

If you haven't already checked out the videos I posted on Facebook you must! There are two. One is Sam talking like a Robot and the other is Sam jamming on the djembe (African hand drum). They both crack me up!

I also registered Mike and I to run the Komen Race in Columbus and formed a team, "McGovern Clan" if anyone wants to join us. We are running in rememberance of my Grandma, Zetta. Her birthday was October 27th so, we followed suit with my Aunt Kathy's idea of trying to raise $1027. We have some very generous friends and already raised $125! You can register or donate here: http://www.active.com/donate/columbusrftc09/McGovernClan

Today I am catching up on some laundry and picking up my Mom and Michael from the airport as some point. Their flight into Atlanta was delayed so they missed their flight to Columbus. They are on standby for a few flights and guaranteed a flight out at 9:30pm. At least there are things to do in Atlanta unlike the time the two of them along with my brother and I were stuck at the Myrtle Beach Airport for 8 hours or so. But that's another story (that my brother can tell)...

  1. I guess I didn't quite realize how much YOU got done this weekend. I pretty much just ordered a computer:) You are the hardest working person I know, and I hope you know how much I appreciate how well you run this household. Hopefully Joe can fanagle the tiller over here and save our backs a little bit:) I'm sad because we have no movie to look forward to for tonight. I still love you!

  3. I am definatly planning on my mom taking the girls soon so I can get my spring cleaning done! the yard is horrendous, we could probably ignite a pretty decent fire if Kyle(next door neighbor with fire pit) will let us use his.
