Tonight I started up week 5 of C25K. It was very cold out (44 degrees but feels like 38 according to weather.com) and windy and even started raining while I was running - yuck! I guess I got a little spoiled with the arrival of spring but forgot that it usually gets cold again (What do they say, "3 frosts after the forsythia bloom"? Ours are blooming so hopefully winter is actually reaching its end.) I followed the same course I did last time so I got 2 miles in. This run wasn't as easy or fun as the last one - I was having to push myself and wasn't really enjoying it either - but, I'll blame all that on the weather. The third run of week 5 is a solid 20 minutes with no walking. I am both excited and intimidated by this! Seven weeks (minus a day) until the Komen! Stay tuned...
In other news, we had a great weekend with my Dad and Roberta. Dad and Mike put in new bathroom fans, swapped out some switches that weren't working, and put overhead lighting in the bedrooms. (My Dad is an electrician.) It's amazing to have bathroom fans that don't sound like an airplane is taking off and the lighting in the rooms makes me realize I need to clean a little better! (I could never see the dirt before.) Roberta and I hit up TJ Max and Innis Woods (things are just starting to bloom here) with the boys while holes were being cut in the ceilings. Today we were all pretty tired. After a slow start Mike and Dad finished up the work and then we went to Macaroni Grill for a late lunch. I had some delish pasta (Shrimp Portofino - I think that's what it's called) with a light buttery lemon sauce, shrimp, pinenuts, spinach, and mushrooms. YUM!
Also, if you think of it pray for a little 5 month old boy, Stellan. He is the son of the writer of a blog I read: My Charming Kids. He has a heart condition called SVT and has been in PICU for a week now. As of today he isn't doing very well at all. I haven't been able to stop thinking/praying for him all week!
you also read mckmama's blog?! i do as well. i dreamed about stellan last night! praying!!
ReplyDeleteMichele - I think I found her blog from yours. I like looking at what other people read to find good blogs to read :)
ReplyDeleteGood job on your run! It snowed here last night! I am sooo ready for spring weather full time!
ReplyDeleteThat is the same condition I was diagnosed with in January 2008 and had an ablation for. Poor baby Stellan.
Apparently an Ablation for an infant is very risky. Last update was that they were going a different route for treatment but there hasn't been any update since yesterday. I can't help but think of Stellan and pray for him.
