Easter Festivities

Last Saturday (the day before Easter), we had an egg hunt in our backyard well, technically Sam had one. We invited over his 2 year old buddies and it was a really fun time (probably because the parents are all our friends too). I was so surprised when the 6 kids that were hunting eggs managed to find 70 eggs in about 5 minutes! Keeping them toddler and milk allergy friendly (Sam's little buddy K has a severe milk allergy) I filled them with bubbles (mini ones like the wedding favors), stickers, kazoos (these were a big hit), and a few smarties.

Sam also passed out a snack (an egg shaped drawstring plastic bag (Wilton makes them and they were less than $2 for about 20 bags) full of bunny grahams and a juice box). He was super polite and told each friend, "thank you for coming" as he passed them out. He is quite the host. This will be fun again next year only we'll need LOTS more eggs!

Saturday evening we colored eggs. Sam was amazing at this! I verbally walked him through the first egg then he did the rest almost entirely on his own. He knows that my favorite is green, Mike's is blue, and his was pink or yellow. We think Ray's favorite was white and cracked... I posted video of Sam coloring his very first egg on facebook if you are interested in watching. Warning: I sound very much like a preschool teacher.Sunday morning the boys woke up to Easter baskets. Ray's had a stuffed Elmo and Elmo cereal. Sam's had a few hot wheels trucks, a Wonder Pets shirt, a pair of socks with dinosaurs on them, and a duck whistle (shaped like a ducks bill and sounds like a duck when you blow - very hard- into it). Mike got a basket with some Cliff bars, Burt's bees chap stick and candy and I got a DVD player for the living room (haha). Mike and I both agreed that explaining the concept of the resurrection to Sam was a little challenging this year! So, we just stuck with Egg parties and baskets. Next year I plan on making Resurrection cookies with the boys.Sunday afternoon we headed to Mike's parents house for Easter festivities including an egg hunt with about 150 eggs unfortunately all filled with candy. They boys got a stomach flu that ended up lasting from Saturday evening to Tuesday night and poor Sam was banned from all things candy. He was content with his sleeve of crackers for the most part. :)

Apparently Ray thinks he is a 2 year old and can have a Reese's peanut butter cup egg. I can't say I blame him for trying though! I was trying to get him to turn it for proper product placement but he wasn't buying into it.

Sam learned how to hit golf balls! These are still the balls courtesy of Toledo Country Club, I mean Papa John (my Dad).I'll leave you with the latest family picture.
