Couch to 5K Progress

I've skipped a few entries on my progress and don't even know the data for them anymore.

Last Saturday I ran with Mike in BG. I was supposed to run 2.25 miles (25 minutes) and he had a quick 2 mile run scheduled before his half marathon the next day. I got in a little over a mile and had to take a walking break. Then, when I started to run again my calf cramped up and I was done. I powered walked the rest of the way while Mike lovingly stuck with me and jogged slowly. I blame this on a combination of things: never having run in the morning, lack of breakfast, and BG winds.

Then, it rained the next few days... Did you know Columbus gets more days with precipitation than Seattle?

Thursday evening I had a good run. I finished up week 7 (25 mins of running) and covered 1.85 miles according to mapmyrun.com. Mike seems to think it's a little low though. Maybe he is just trying to encourage me :)

Tomorrow, Sunday, I will be starting week 8 with a 28 minute run. My plan is to run in the MORNING.

I was a head of schedule with a week of leeway but now I will literally be finishing up C25K on race day.

I can still do this though...

As far as a goals in mind for race day, my number one goal is to run the entire thing with no walking breaks; secondly, I would like to finish in under 35 minutes (but that might be unrealistic, 40 minutes is probably a better goal). I also want to run a 10K before my birthday in August, a Family Fun 5K on the Fourth (that's gonna happen, right?), and the Toledo SGK in the fall (I would love to see a big McGovern family team for that race!).

I can still do this though...
Two weeks from today...

P.S. Does anyone have a good picture of Grandma Z that they could email me. I want to make a sign for my back for the race.

  1. I really did think your rout seemed more than 1.85. Either way I know you can do whatever you set yourself out to do. Let me know whenever you want to run. Do what you can, stay injury free!

  2. I think your running goals sound great AND realistic.

I'm so IN for the Family Fun 5K on the Fourth!
