I had intended to run yesterday morning.
Morning came and went.
I intended to run yesterday evening.
Shovel met rock and foot met the impact.
Ice met my foot last night.
Running in the PM is just more realistic for me.
Tonight I ran for 28 minutes (although I did stop twice to walk for a minute so, I ran for 26 minutes and walked for 2 minutes). I covered 2 miles according to mapmyrun.com. According to mapmyrun I am not making as good of time as I think I am in my head when I'm running or that I would like to. I would really like to be running 10 minute miles. Am I being unrealistic in my goals?! Should I switch from time to distance?
(Just mapped it in my car and came out 2 miles too.)
Oh well, at least I am running (and injury free)!
I agree - running in the PM is MUCH more realistic.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your great 2 mile run!
I couldn't agree more with your last line - you are RUNNING!!! And running injury free, at that! Keep up your awesome work. You are going to do so well in your upcoming 5k.
You will be amazed on race day how much faster you will go than in your training. I walked the SGK in Toledo a few years ago and walked almost 10 minutes faster than I did when I was getting ready for it. And I say rock on with running and sticking to a program!
ReplyDeleteYou are doing GREAT! Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteThink of the 16th as “just a fund-raiser” rather than a “race”. Let your body tell you what you have to do. As you finish the “time” on your C25K workout, if you feel like going farther, do it. You might even continue walking until you complete 5k. During your running time, consider pushing yourself a bit faster, maybe just for one minute out of every 8 or something like that.
You might switch up your music – perhaps a consistent bpm. Free downloadable music based on bpm is available at www.podrunner.com If you want more information about running at a specific bpm, check out http://www.run2r.com/.
One complaint I have about the C25K training program is that we are led to believe we should be able to run 3.1 miles in about 30 minutes by the end of the 9th week. I don’t think that is realistic for most people.
I think you'll surprise yourself with how well you'll do on the 16th. The crowd, the excitement, etc. all tend to bring out the fastest and the best you can be!
