Wednesdays seem to be a catch up day around here. Typically I don't get anything done on Monday or Tuesday because I babysit all day. Today seemed like a particularly productive (more alliteration) Wednesday. Here is what we did:
Both boys were up, dressed, and had breakfast (or second breakfast in Ray's case) by 8:30.
A little after 9 we headed outside. I planted a trunk load full of plants (day lily's, hostas, hens and chicks, bleeding heart, snowdrop bulbs from Mike's parents house) and rearranged some other plants in the yard. Today I realized that my love of rearranging furniture might be taken out on the plants too. (I am happy with the bed around the magnolia tree now. It is mostly lily of the valley with a good mixture of hostas now. I am not pleased with the rest of the front yard though. I need suggestions for mostly shade plants that aren't too big. I'm a fan of perennials!) While I did this Ray hung out in the pack and play, had a snack, and probably ate some grass too. Sam had a snack, mowed the lawn with bubbles and played with chalk.
After all my planting, Sam wanted to go for a walk around the block. Of course he picked today to want to ride in the stroller. The double stroller weighs 100lbs when both boys are in it! See what I mean about cross training?! Before I knew it the clock said, "11:30"!
The boys had lunch and were in serious need of a bath before they napped. First Ray turned his bath water black (with a ting of tomato sauce red) then Sam managed to do the same. A sure sign that they had a fun morning...
After I got the boys down for their nap I played in the dirt a little more then it started raining so I ate some lunch. Then I.... called the police (the empty rental next to us keeps getting broke in to- likely by kids looking for a place to hang out but now the back slider door is smashed) surfed the web for a few minutes, washed the diapers, cleaned the kitchen, mopped, cleaned the hall bathroom, and folded 4 loads of laundry!
Then the boys woke up.
Mike's Mom called and said she had some mulch she wasn't going to use so, I unloaded 9 bags of mulch.
We made friendship bread. I received the starter from my neighbor 10 days ago so, today was baking day. It is really good!
Ordered pizza for dinner because I think I did enough today...
After dinner, Sam and Mike played cars while Ray and I went on a quest for a lampshade harp. Yesterday, one of the 2 year olds (they both blamed it on the other) knocked over the lamp and the finial broke off the harp. JoAnn Fabrics was a no go. Target was a no go but Ray did manage to lose a sock there. We found one at Lowe's.
Now, I am happy that I brought this Lily of the Valley in today. Take a sniff and sit back and relax for the rest of the night! Doesn't it look nice in the little jelly mason jar on my kitchen window sill with the hammock in the background?
what a wonderful working Wednesday we witnessed while wishing we weren't so weary from our work. I'm tired. Off to Potter...I mean, bed.
