I kept the little kids (and some big ones too) as busy as I could over the weekend with crafts: visor making, beading, homemade playdough, magnets, and coloring were all on the agenda. We never even got to Bald Eagle puppets or wind chimes so, I'll save those for next year :) Of course they were able to entertain themselves a bit with running, rolling, spinning, singing, frog "hunting", riding in the Cozey Coupe car, kicking balls, and doing all the things that kids do.
Ray kept busy mowing the 5 acres and participating in the "First Annual Family Fun Run on the Fourth" (or something like that). He decided to meet Mike just before the finish line. Technically speaking I think he was the 3rd place finisher.
Sunday we headed out to my Mom and Michael's camper and were able to spend some time with Aunt Jenica and Uncle Christopher who were in town from Florida and also Aunt Maegan and Uncle Will and Nunny and Papa (of course!). It was great to see C and J and spend some "normal" time with them. The past few times I have seen them have been for weddings which are always busy times. Some highlights were Christopher and Sam bonding over a beer and Oreos in the camper (Sam's black lips in the picture will explain who had what) and playing with balloons. I'm sure Sam did his fair share of talking about poop and "body parts" too. Lets just say this whole potty training thing has opened up a whole new realm of conversation.
Sunday afternoon we headed back to Westerville in hopes of catching a free concert at Alum Creek Amphitheatre of a Beatles cover band, "British Invasion". Well, the concert proved to be very crowded so, we took our Wendy's to another near by park, Hannah Mayne
(our favorite park in Westerville). After we ate we walked to the concert and heard the crowd shouting, "Encore!" and we were still a half a block away. We made it in time to catch the last song. In all honesty, I think Sam was disappointed because he was expecting the beetles from "The Wonder Pets Save the Beatles". However, when I worked my way through the crowd to get him up front he was pretty impressed and even did a little dancing!
Overall, a wonderful weekend! (Lots more pictures and video on facebook.)
