Ray's Quilt - Finished

We had a nice long weekend.  I spent a lot of time sewing which I really enjoyed.  Here is the finished product.  Notice Ray claimed the quilt as his (again) as soon as it hit the floor!

I made my own "bias tape" for the edges.  Not perfect but also not bad for a first attempt.  This is after all my first official quilt.

The back side is solid red.  The quilting goes around each square.

Stop! Hammer Time...

I've been meaning to post this for a few weeks. I went on a hanging frenzy one day and our walls look better for it or, at least I think they do.

The hand prints
found a little home in our "reading nook". That's a shelf full of books behind the fabric curtain. And that's my humble collection of old books on top of the book shelf. Most of them were my grandma's that we read together when I was a kiddo. I found the green apple at Homegoods and bought it because it reminded me of her too.

I have been wanting this for the back room (which is full of speakers, amps, guitars, and an electric organ, of course) for about a year but never pulled the trigger because it was $30 or so. I found it on clearance for $5! Patience pays off.

The plate Mike brought back from Spain found a home above the laundry room door in the kitchen. It may need a friend from "the continent".
The nail I was using to hang my reusable grocery bags on just wasn't holding them anymore. They deserved a proper hook. If you shop at Giant Eagle this bag is my favorite because of the tree and the long handles which makes them easy to carry - all for a buck.

7-8-09

Why was six afraid of seven?
Because 7 ate 9.

I don't know why people were in such an uproar about 12:34.56 on 7-8-09; it seemed like a normal day to me.

A crafty normal day.

I started and nearly finished the hand print craft I have been wanting to do. It was my first go at
"embroidery" if that's what you want to call this. I may have to come up with excuses to make more of these because watching Conan and stitching was quite enjoyable and relaxing. These are done except for adding the boys names and the date, 7-8-09. They are going to be hung somewhere in the backroom/kitchen.

Sam informed Mike and I that he didn't need a nap today (today is 7-9-09 since we are talking dates). We agreed that his nap days are winding to a close but he still needs some down time. But wait! Here he is watching Finding Nemo for his down time - "not napping".
And just for a point of reference, here he is on another date, 10-12-06 (about 2 weeks old) when he didn't even take up an entire couch cushion. He's not napping in this picture either ;)
