WIP Challenge- Wrap Up!

A few weeks back, I started a WIP (works in progress) challenge. In the past week, I finished up an "I Spy" picnic blanket and made a Quilts for Kids quilt top that my Aunt is going to quilt and bind.

"I Spy" Picnic Blanket:  182 5 inch squares - all different (acquired from a generous quilter on Flickr and this ongoing swap); 1 yard of sashing; aprox. 4 yard of backing; no batting to keep it lightweight for picnics.

Quilts for Kids quilt top using this pattern:

Here is my original to-do list as well as the progress:

2. Make an "I Spy" quilt - DONE! (pictures above)
3. Make an elephant quilt for Ray's Birtday - DONE!
4. Cut and mail vintage sheets for swapping - DONE!
5. Cut fabric for a New Wave quilt - never started
6. Make a fabulous prize for one of you namely, Amy at "House of Bad Cats" (please send me your mailing address) - not done yet.
7. Make a present for someone I know. - DONE!

I put links on the "DONE!" if you are interested in seeing my finished projects over the past few weeks.

So what's next?  Dresden Plate Party, Spiderweb Block Swap, and cutting that New Wave fabric!

I'm sharing this over at Sew and Tell Fridays and

WIP Challenge (Week 6)

Every Tuesday for the past few weeks I have been showing my WIPs (Works in progress).  Here is what I have done this past week:

FINISHED Ray's Birthday quilt!  I decided on some blue on blue polka dots that I had in my stash for the binding.

Finally sewed together all the 5in squares for an "I Spy" quilt.  I plan to add a border or two to finish off the top.

Cut up fabric for the Dresden Plate party (this was not on my original to do list) and sewed one together.

I also wrote a guest post with a craft tutorial for My Four Monkeys that will be posted tomorrow (along with my 300th post)!

There are more photos on my Flickr stream (see side bar) if you are interested.

Link up or leave comments with your WIP!

** Edit:  How did I collect all those novelty fabrics for the I Spy Quilt?  1) A generous stranger on Flickr sent me a large mailer envelope full of them!  2) I did this swap which is still going on: http://fabricstashclub.com/page.php?page=swap

WIP Challenge (Week 5)

This was a short week for me since my husband and I were off celebrating our 5 year anniversary all weekend.  I did manage to get the Elephant quilt quilted.

What have you gotten done this week?

I also shared this quilt progress here, where another one of my projects is featured!

WIP Challenge (Week 4)

This week I made some headway on Ray's 2nd birthday quilt.  Just like last week, pictures are worth a thousand words.

Appliqued elephants.   Played with layout.  Started quilting.  I am using straight line quilting for this one.

If you would like to link up on my WIP challenge you can do so below!  If you don't have a blog you can share what you have been up to in the comments.

WIP Challenge (Week 3)

Pictures are worth a thousand words, right?  Here's what I got done this week:
Hooray for another item that can be checked off the to-do list!  The pattern for this quilt is from Oh, Fransson!  She has the greatest (free) patterns!

WIP It! WIP It Good! Challenge (week 2)

If you missed last week, you can check out all the details of my WIP (work in progress) challenge here.  I've also crossed some things off the to-do list on that post too!  Basically, I have a list of things I want to get done over the next month or so and am nosey about what projects everyone else is working on too.  I was feeling pretty productive this week and even did a mid-week post of my progress.

So, here is what I got accomplished this week:

1.  Finished the Quilts for Kids quilt and mailed it (see mid-week post for pictures).

2.  On the "I Spy" quilt I cut squares, created a layout and sewed squares together in to the 13 horizontal rows.  There are some pictures on the mid-week post of this as well but here is one to show you how long the strips are.  There are 13 of them that I need to sew together now.

3.  I cut the vintage sheets I found in to fat quarters (an 18x22" piece of fabric).  Here is a sampling of what I am sending in for the swap.  As soon as I mail these I can cross that off my list too!

4.  I added to my to-do list, "Make a special present for someone I know".  Here is the fabric all cut up for that project.  I'm using the Charm Squares Baby Quilt pattern from Oh Fransson! (one of my favorite quilting blogs).  I didn't buy a charm pack though, I just picked out some fat quarters and cut them in to 5in squares.  Aren't the hippos, lions, birdies and flowers cute?!

Go ahead and link up for the first time or, continue to show your progress!  If you don't have a blog, let us know what you are up to in the comments.

I'm also sharing over at Sew and Tell!

WIP Challenge (half way to Tuesday check in)

If you still want to take part in my WIP challenge it's not to late to sign up!

I've made some headway on my to-do list already!  Knowing that I have promised to write in on Tuesday with my progress is a good motivator (that and it's been raining here the past few days).

I finished my Quilts for Kids quilt. I don't love the binding but it's the only thing in my stash that sorta matched (there is a black outline on all the fairies and flowers).  I mailed it too so, I can completely cross it off of my to-do list!

I cut lots of 5 in squares yesterday (some of the nearly 200 were already cut) and planned a lay out for the boys I Spy quilt (I plan to add a border or two, too).  I've also started to sew some of the strips together - aah progress!

WIP It! WIP It Good! Challenge

Red Devo Energy Dome Plastic Costume Hat
Whether or not you want to wear an energy dome is up to you but I am presenting a challenge to the followers of this humble blog:  write a blog listing your WIP (works in progress), write a blog each Tuesday for the next 6 weeks showing progress, write a final blog on Tuesday, May 18th showing off all your finished projects!  Link up to my blog to show off your progress, check out others progress and crack the whip encourage others to get busy too!

There is a silly fabulous prize involved in this but I'll reveal that later.  Of course, there is also the satisfaction of a shorter to do list!

Your projects can be anything: organize a closet, finish a quilt, start your vegetable seeds, etc.

Here is my list (updated as we go along):
1.  Finish a Quilt for Kids quilt and mail it!
2.  Make an Eye spy quilt.
3.  Make an elephant quilt for Ray's Birthday.
4.  Cut and mail vintage sheet fat quarter for swapping.
5.  Cut fabric for New Wave quilt.
6.  Make a fabulous prize for one of you!
7.  Make a special present for someone I know.

Watching this video is also optional but a good 80's flashback!

Ok, now, link up and get busy!  If you don't have a blog feel free to write in the comments about what you are working on (and consider adding, "Create a blog" to your list!).
