The fabric reminds me of my friend, Chara. She lives on the West coast and is always wearing cheery clothes. One time her family came to Mike's family's Easter get together and she wore flowers in her hair. I miss them... I also just need some girly-ness sometimes living in a house full of boys.
The process reminds me of trying to make a dress with my Grandma when I was in fourth grade. All I wanted for Christmas was a sewing machine and I got one! Then, I had it in my head that the very first thing I would make would be a dress. Not curtains, pillows, or a straight line of stitches but a dress. Only my grandma would actually be patient enough to undergo this task.
The skirt is called a 5-minute skirt but only my friend, Tina would be able to whip it up in 5 minutes! I did make the pattern and I don't have a serger or even know what one looks like so I used bias tape for the edge.
All in all I am pretty happy with it and it really only took me about 2-3 hours total and I think I only cussed twice. Here are some pictures of the process and I also modeled the finished work for you!
I used a roll of wrapping paper to make the pattern on. This worked out well. The pattern was a little to long and full for my liking so I altered it before I put the bias tape on.
Sewing on bias tape. This was really easy. I watched this tutorial first.
Love your skirt! I think yours is much cuter than the one in the 5-minute skirt link...
