Terrific/Terrible Two's

Sam is certainly in full swing of being 2. Sorry, 2 1/2, as he would proudly say. Here are some highlights from this week; I'm sure some of you can add things to this.

:: Mike has been in Spain all week so each night Sam blows kisses all the way to Daddy and eats the ones that Daddy "sends back" to him.

:: Sam thinks anything stinky is funny especially farts and all things poop.

:: Sam loves to sing. He makes up his own songs. Some titles are: "I Love to Drum All Day", "Thank You Bella", and his new one is "The Wonder Pets Save the Stinky Poop" (The Wonder Pets theme song replaced with "save the stinky poop" rather than "save a baby animal".)

:: The other day Sam said, "Aww shucks Papa". I think he learned it from Wonder Pets; they say it in one episode, one time. That's all it take for him to pick things up.

:: According to Sam, Aunt Maegan and Uncle Will's Dog, Melody, is his favorite dog but he refuses to touch her. At least he doesn't cry at the sight of her anymore.

:: After telling my Dad yesterday that Sam would be fine to color with their collection of pens/markers from their desk because he ONLY colors on paper and NEVER anything else, Sam decided today would be a good day to color on his bedroom door with permanent maker (that he found in our desk drawer) while I was unpacking some things. He explained, "I'm making it pretty, Mommy" while I completely over reacted thus leading to a 15 minute melt down. Any suggestions of how to get rid of permanent marker stains?! Prime then paint...

:: Sam likes to watch the same episode of shows over and over and over and well, you get the point.

:: Sunday, we all went to Bass Pro. They had lots of activities going on for kids. Sam didn't want much to do with painting your own fishing lure or getting dressed up like a fisherman to get your picture taken but he did want to ride the "ellegator" many times.

:: Sam is excited to go to "swimming school" tomorrow. He also loves "church school", "Library school" and is looking forward to "Layna School" (preschool in the fall that his friend, Layna, will be attending also.)

:: Sam, Nunny (my Mom), and Ray have been having dance parties all week. During one of the dance parties Sam was telling Lion (his very loved stuffed animal), "Shake your head lion, shake your arms lion, good job lion, okay shake your legs lion, shake your penis lion..." My Mom and I just looked at each other and busted out laughing. It's official, Lion is a boy.

:: Sam informed Nunny that his favorite stores to go to are flower stores and his favorite color flower is black.

:: Maegan (my step sister) and I went to some garage sales this past week and I picked up a few play shirts for Sam (50 cents!). He was so excited about them you would have thought I paid a million bucks. However, when my Mom bought Sam practically a whole new wardrobe (sale of the summer!) he didn't want much to do with checking it out.

:: My Mom picked up a big toy fire truck for the boys to play with at her house and Sam kept saying, "Aunt Maegan got this for me; it's so nice".

:: Aunt Maegan did bring Sam some color wonder markers and paper which he refers to as his "painting markers".

:: I found some foam stickers on clearance at JoAnn's (that trip to Jo Ann's will likely be a blog in itself) and sat down to do some of them with Sam. Sam informed me that we needed to use the entire bag in one sitting.

:: Are you noticing an art/music theme going here? Sam loves them both. Another snag at the garage sales was a Little Tikes art easel. They boys got to use it for the first time tonight. Sam coloring on big paper and then painted with water on the chalkboard.

:: Tonight Sam grabbed an entire (full) bag of pretzels off the counter and was carrying them around. I said, "Sam, do you think you are 15 years old?" He said, "No, Mom, 2 1/2!".

:: Yep, Sam is saying, "Mom" not "Mommy". Or, if he is trying to be funny he says, "Maw Maw". This is a little sad for me but I bet he is just saying it because he has hear me saying, "Mom" all week.

:: Sam, what is your name? "Samah Mara"

:: Sam at the playground - "Hi, I'm Sam. Wanna friend?"

:: Sam snorts when he is laughing really hard.

They are only 2 (and a half) once!
