Riding in a water taxi is much more peaceful than being in a "street" taxi.
It took about an hour total after arriving to get to the observation deck; not too bad of a wait considering they just opened up the new glass ledges. I overhead a few people saying the line has been wrapped around outside lately. We also heard many people and even the local news say that it will always be Sears not Willis tower to them. More info on the name change here. Of course Mike and I both quoted, "I think I see my dad." several times while peering over the city.
Nope, we aren't floating; we are sitting on the glass ledge. A little creepy but once you are actually on the ledge not bad.
A view of Millennium Park and a preview of my Friday Afternoon in Chicago blog.
When we came down from the observation deck Mike asked for directions to Giordano's pizza which turned out was just about 2 blocks away. Notice that Chicago is a candidate city for the 2016 Olympics. 73 days until decision making! You can back the bid here.
We had some pizza for lunch but opted for thin crust. It was good but not the best pizza I have ever had. Mikes half: cheese. My half: green peppers, onion, mushrooms, cheese.
No, the glass ledge pic was not photoshopped. Great morning.
ReplyDeleteThe pic of you and Mike on the ledge of the Sears tower (it will always be Sears to me, too) is one of the coolest pictures that I have ever seen in my life.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you two had a blast in Chicago! Did you run into Adam Sandler?
Yes this picture is much cooler than the one that they took while we were waiting in line. We stood in front of a green screen that they photoshop the skyline on to.
ReplyDeleteNo Adam Sandler this time. We did see a girl that looked like Tara from the biggest loser but then we decided it wasn't her.
you guys were posing for a senior picture on the glass ledge, weren't you?
ReplyDeleteThe glass ledge is way too scary for me, I don't think I could have done it
